5 Things to Do in Albany This Spring

Article written by Caitlin Treacy.

Winter went on for far too long this year. Every time it seemed like spring had arrived, the sun disappeared after a day of two, and back came the bitter winter cold. But thankfully, it seems like the warmth is finally here to stay. Not sure what to do now that the weather's nice? Here's 5 things to do in Albany this spring!

Get some ice cream with friends! If you're near the UAlbany main campus, Cold Stone is a short walk away in Stuyvesant Plaza, and has outdoor seating. If you're downtown, Ben & Jerry's is right on Madison Ave, easily accessible from the 11 and 12 CDTA routes. MASH members can take advantage of discounts at both of these ice cream spots! Check out our Cold Stone deal here, and our Ben & Jerry's discount here.

Take a walk through Washington Park. Washington Park is a beautiful 90-acre park located on Madison Ave, with plenty of flowers, trees, and statues to admire. It's the perfect place to take a stroll through on a breezy spring day, and if you're lucky, you might see a cute dog or two there.

You can also check out the Tulip Festival happening at Washington Park on May 12th and 13th! It's a fun weekend filled with flowers, food trucks, live music, and more! Click here to learn about it.

Take a spinning class at The REVOLUTION! Never taken a spinning class? Try something new this spring! The REV is located on Western Ave right across from University at Albany's main campus. Learn more about them here and check out our discounted class prices!

Visit Cohoes Falls on the Mohawk River in Cohoes, N.Y. eleven miles north of Albany. The stunning view of the falls can be seen from either Cohoes Falls Overlook Park or Falls View Park. Bring a friend, a camera, and some food and make a day trip out of it!

Podiate with some snacks (and by snacks, I mean both food AND cute people). Get some pasta bowls from Bellini's Counter, a pizza from DC's Pizza, or some frozen yogurt from Crave. MASH members get discounts at all of these restaurants, so you get to enjoy good food while saving a buck. It's a win-win.
