MASH’s Back to School Yard Sale
This past Sunday, Aug 27th, 2017, MASH held their second annual ‘back to school’ yard sale in downtown Albany. With music playing in the background, students enjoyed Cornhole, hot dogs and ‘Cold Stone/RMCF’ ice cream for free, while searching between 250 discounted items.
These items included desks, chairs, tables, microwaves, vacuums, kitchen supplies and other important school essentials. The MASH team worked tirelessly this summer to gather all of these items in time for the sale on Sunday.
Helping the students out was not the only thing MASH aimed to achieve this past Sunday. Like many of the MASH events, giving back to the local community plays a big part. To honor that mantra, MASH will be donating a part of the proceeds from the yard sale to ‘The Food Pantries’ in Albany.
Some students took a couple minutes to talk with us about their experience…
“The yard sale really helped me out, I got a desk and TV stand for a great price, and it saved me a trip to Walmart.” said Brad, a Grad Student at UAlbany.
Dillion who is a Junior at UAlbany had this to add “MASH yard sale was awesome! I was able to get something I really needed for my room and cool off with some sweet Cold Stone ice cream.”
Brian White, Owner of the Cold Stone/Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in Albany was also interviewed following the sale.
"The SUNY students have been awesome to Cold Stone - as guests and crew members. We were excited to work with MASH to donate some great ice cream creations to the community to get the school year off to a good start."
Tiran Koren, one of the forces behind the sale concluded…
"Providing students with cheap/affordable furniture in one location while enjoying cold ice cream, BBQ and other activities, was worth all of the planning and hard work behind the scenes. I would like to especially thank Brian and his amazing team for their incredible ice creams that helped us put a smile on everyone's faces. We can't wait for our next big event together!"
This coming Monday, Sep 4th, MASH is going to continue the yard sale for students who were unable to make it the first time around. The location will be the same as last week, which is 244 Manning Blvd, Albany 12206 and the hours will be 12 – 4 P.M.
See you there!
